After steaming beets for tonight’s dinner salad, I had this bright idea to make hard-boiled eggs in the gorgeously pink beet water. What could be cooler than fuchsia eggs, right?

Little did I know that the red pigments would turn a really hideous rotten-vegetable-brown colour. Nasty nasty nasty. Thank goodness our eggs are already brown.
